The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), being a partner in Nation Building, through its Directorate on Financial & Tax Literacy plays a pro-active role in developing awareness and understanding of financial and tax matters among public at large by way of various programmes such as Conference, Seminars, Summit, workshops etc. These programmes educate the public to make wise choices regarding investments, tax preparation, and budgeting.
ICAI is organising “Financial Literacy Day” on 17th August 2024, a Mega Financial Literacy Drive as part of the FTL Mela. Financial literacy encompasses a wide spectrum of the public, including housewives, senior citizens, students, salaried/retired individuals, startups/business owners, law enforcement personnel, defense personnel, teachers/academicians, farmers/rural households, and professionals such as lawyers, doctors, and engineers. It involves fostering an understanding of diverse financial concepts and instruments essential for making informed decisions regarding money management. This initiative aims to raise awareness through seminars, lectures, articles, activities, booklets, and video guides in vernacular languages, catering to the common man's needs concerning finance and tax-related matters.

The primary goal is to enhance financial and tax literacy among diverse segments of the public,including students, salaried and retired individuals, businessmen and entrepreneurs, law enforcement, personnel, defense personnel, teachers, academicians, and professionals such as lawyers, doctors, and engineers.
Facilitate access to comprehensive and easy-to understand resources on financial and tax literacy from the repository of the Directorate, comprising of publications, e-books, reading materials, guides, and digital content, including animated videos. These resources will be available in English, Hindi, and regional languages, ensuring broader reach and inclusivity.
Empower individuals with practical knowledge and tools necessary to make informed financial decisions and comply with tax regulations. By equipping participants with relevant Information and resources, the event aims to foster financial resilience, promote responsible financial behavior, and facilitate tax compliance.
Address knowledge gaps and misconceptions surrounding financial management and taxation.
